Health Benefits of Wine
This tasty beverage has many health benefits that you probably are not even aware of. Wine is packed with beneficial antioxidants which help the body fight again some illnesses, and it is a great immune system booster. It can help reduce your risk of stroke, increase bone density, and reduce your risk of heart diseases. One of the most recent discoveries regarding the heath benefits of wine, however, suggests that it can help you lose weight if you consume it before bedtime.
Scientists and researchers from Washington State University and Harvard discovered a certain chemical found in wines which helps prevent fat cells in the body from accumulating more fat. This chemical is known as resveratrol. According to experts at the Mayo Clinic, “The resveratrol in red wine comes from the skin of grapes used to make wine. Because red wine is fermented with grape skins longer than is white wine, red wine contains more resveratrol.” In addition, the Mayo Clinic notes that:
“Resveratrol might be a key ingredient in red wine that helps prevent damage to blood vessels, reduces low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (the “bad” cholesterol) and prevents blood clots. Some research shows that resveratrol could be linked to a lower risk of inflammation and blood clotting, which can lead to heart disease.
Resveratrol has also been found to help keep your body from acquiring more fat! The scientists found that by drinking two glasses of wine every day, one can help lower their risk for obesity by an enormous 70%.”
More Studies Done On Wine
More studies have been done to help uncover the health benefits of wine, including one out of the University of Denmark, which showed a strong link between waistlines and consumption of wine. The study found that those who consumed wine every day had slimmer waistlines compared to people who didn’t consume wine that regularly.
And, there is yet another study done at Harvard on weight gain. Out of 20,000 subjects, everyone wo ended up gaining weight lacked the regular presence of wine in their diet.
